LHS Graduate Creates 'Blueprint' of Downtown Lemont

Over the last few years, Art teacher Ryan Hennebry has instituted the "Blueprint LHS" project on campus. "Blueprint LHS" is a cross-curricular project that combines Art with other academic content areas.

The goal of the project is for the school's Art III and Art IV students to create artwork to be displayed in classrooms. However, the twist is that the artwork corresponds with the subject being taught by the teacher that occupies that classroom.

Many students submit their work, but only a handful are chosen through a juried process. Ultimately, "Blueprint LHS" will place artwork in every Lemont High School classroom over the course of several years. Work also is found in conference rooms, the Board Room and selected offices, including the office of Superintendent Dr. Sandy Doebert.

In the future, after all classrooms include framed artwork, the rotation will be restarted and new work will be placed in the classrooms.  

Last year, the program pushed beyond campus, as "Blueprint Lemont" began to take shape. Similar to the on-campus program, "Blueprint Lemont" sees students creating work that is hung in Lemont businesses, organizations or municipal buildings. This tradition will continue annually each May.  

Class of 2012 graduate Monica Furczon will have two pieces featured in the community. One piece will be hung in the office of Thrivent Financial on Illinois Street, and the other will be incorporated at the .
