LHS Student Architect Qualifies for State Drafting Competition
Nina Moeller's qualification means that Lemont High School will be represented at state competition for the fifth time in the last six years.

By placing runner-up in her category at the Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA) Regional Drafting Competition last Friday, Lemont High School student Nina Moeller became the latest in a long line of LHS students to represent the school at the IDEA State Drafting Competition, held this year at Illinois State University on April 20, according to a Lemont High School press release.
Moeller’s challenge in her Architectural Board category, according to the release, “was to design and/or draw specified views, details or sections within a three-hour period using provided materials, specifications and drawings.” She placed second of eight; all winners and runner-ups advanced.
Teacher Scott Duensing’s architectural drafting program at LHS has produced five regional champions since 2008, and one runner-up in state competition (Sean Armbruster, 2009, in the 3D Architectural CAD Modeling category, a regional runner-up), and the school has been represented at states each of the last six years, except for 2011.
