Lions Park Renovations Underway; Old Equipment Donated to Rockford-Based Nonprofit

With renovations set to begin this week at , the has partnered with an Illinois nonprofit organization to donate old equipment to children in need.
Lions Park, located at 60 W. Roberta St., will be made over with new play pieces, a resurfaced basketball court and possibly a fence or landscape berm to help with safety, according to Lemont Park District spokesperson Carrie Dellamano.Â
The new playground, which was selected by a majority of residents during a neighborhood meeting, is manufactured by NuToys and will include a climbing net, Dellamano said.

On Monday, the park district announced that it was able to donate the old swing structure from Lions Park to "Kids Around the World," a Rockford-based nonprofit that accepts donated playground pieces and installs them in different areas of the world for children.
"Their goal is to put play into the lives of children around the world," Dellamano said in a press release. "It's nice to know that others will be able to enjoy a piece of equipment that was embraced by so many in the great community of Lemont at Lions Park."

Dellamano said renovations will commence this week. Play pieces are expected to be installed by mid-August.
