Perfect Game Highlights Ferry's Promising Future
Lemont High School senior Josh Ferry threw the school's first-ever perfect game earlier this month.

When it comes to how he feels about throwing a perfect game earlier this month, pitcher Josh Ferry doesn’t mince words.
“It was amazing,” he said.
The high school senior pitched the perfect game — the first time in school history — against Minooka Community High School on April 1.

“I’ve been playing sports since T-ball,” said Ferry, also a wide-receiver on Lemont’s football team. “I’ve always loved sports. I hated when a season ended. I always wanted another one to start.”
Ferry, a high honor roll student, has been on the Lemont varsity squad since his freshman year, and has more years of baseball in his future. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ferry said he has enjoyed working under Lemont baseball coach Joe Rodeghero.
“He’s a good guy,” Ferry said. “And he’s an all-around great coach.”
As for Rodeghero, he lauds the student as “very hard worker.”
“He knows what he has to do to get things done,” he said.
Ferry has a 2-2 record this season with a 1.88 ERA. He has only allowed six walks, while striking out 23, in 26 innings of work. He is batting .270 with two homers and eight RBIs in the young season.
Ferry is looking forward a future in athletics.
“I want to get a good education and hopefully have a career in baseball after college even,” he said.
Rodeghero thinks he will.
“Every little kid that picks up a baseball glove wants to be a professional baseball player,” he said. “I think it’s realistic for Josh. It’s very hard to make it to the major leagues but I think he’ll get his chance.”
As for what professional team he’d like to play on, Ferry doesn’t have a particular one in mind.
“Any team would be fine for me,” he said.
