Bottles co-owner Jerry Kulhanek said he expanded the lounge area—which previously featured just a few small tables—in hopes of attracting more patrons.
"Bottles has always been a small space, so I think some people thought of it more as just a liquor store instead of a place to hang out," Kulhanek said. "We wanted to create a space that was bigger and more inviting."

Kulhanek, who owns Talcott Square Plaza, said he also wanted to make use of the vacant space.
"We haven't been able to get anyone to rent the unit next door, so it's been empty since the boutique closed," he said. "I figured we should take advantage of the open space and do something to improve the business we do have."
Kulhanek said he is currently putting the finishing touches on the wall decor, and hopes to eventually add video gaming. The space will also be available for small wine tastings or parties, he said.
"We're excited about the new opportunities," he said.
Bottles has been open since 2008. The store currently boasts a selection of more than 130 beers, wines and spirits.
