PHOTOS: Relay for Life of Lemont-Homer Glen Fights Cancer, Rain

The annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society was held Friday night through Saturday morning at the Lemont High School Sports Complex.

More than 200 participants walked through the night Friday for Lemont and Homer Glen's annual Relay for Life fundraiser.

As of Friday night, 226 walkers on 21 teams had raised $46,285 for Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society's signature fundraiser.

The event—which took place at the Lemont High School Athletic Complex at 131st Street and Bell Road—was initially delayed more than 20 minutes as organizers waited for nearby storms to clear the area.

Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves was on hand to offer opening remarks, along with the Rev. Glenn Bergmark. Lemont resident Amanda Curry—a cancer survivor—also addressed the crowd with her parents, Bill and Bettye, who are also cancer survivors.
