The Lemont Fire Protection week held their annual "Open House" on Sunday as part of Fire Prevention Week. The event featured an appearance by a Lifestar helicopter, firefighter drills, kids activities and several emergency management vehicles.

Fire Prevention Week is observed every October to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, which killed more than 250 people and burned more than 2,000 acres acres of land Oct. 8-9, 1871.
