Road Construction, Resurfacing Begins in Lemont
Village officials recently approved a $518,000 bid to repair and resurface more than 9,300 feet of neighborhood streets.

More than 9,300 feet of Lemont roads will undergo repairs and resurfacing during the month of June.
Lemont village trustees voted unanimously May 13 to approve a $517,865 bid from K-Five Construction Corp. for the planned road work. Trustee Rick Sniegowski abstained due to his position in the company.
The only other bid received was from James D. Fiala Paving Company in the amount of $556,331. Both bids were well below the engineer's estimate of $749,791, according to village documents.
The resurfacing project is part of the Motor-Fuel Tax Resurfacing Program, and will consist of hot-mix asphalt surface removal and replacement, patching, curb and gutter removal and replacement, and some sewer repairs.
Curb and sewer repairs began Tuesday. Construction is expected to continue through June 21, weather permitting.
The following streets will undergo resurfacing:
- Doolin Street
- Wend Street to Roberta Street
- North of Roberta Street
- Cul-de-sac to Wend Street
- State Street to Hillview Drive
- Hillview Drive to Schultz Street
Streets will not be closed to traffic.
During the May 13 meeting, village engineer James Cainkar recommended that Main and John streets also be resurfaced—primarily due to the favorable bid prices, but also since they are in the general area of improvement. The additional cost would be $42,000.
Trustees are expected to consider the additional work at a future board meeting.
