LEMONT, IL — A training exercise will bring a large police presence to Central Middle School on April 22, according to the Lemont Police Department.

The school will be closed as police conduct their Armed Intruder Training, which is expected to last from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Staff members will be present, but no students will be in attendance during the training.

"We do not want anyone in the community to be unnecessarily alarmed by the activity at or around the school," Lemont police said in a news release.

"You will see emergency response vehicles, equipment, and personnel in and around the Central School area during this time. All measures will be taken to ensure this is a safe training event that benefits both our schools and the community."
