Snow Could Affect Friday Afternoon Commute

A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Friday; meteorologists predict 1-3 inches of snow by early evening.

Commuters could have a cold and snowy drive home Friday afternoon, with lake-effect snow predicted. Dropping temperatures could make roads slick.

While snow is predicted, the worst of the weather is expected to hit Chicago and Northwest Indiana, according to Alex Sosnowski, expert senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.com. The western suburbs will see lesser amounts, but three-to-six inches of snow are possible in the Chicago area.

Due to low visibility and blowing snow, it is possible that some flights may also be affected, AccuWeather.com said.
