State Rep. John Egofske To Resign From Position

Egofske will continue to serve in his position as Mayor of Lemont.

LEMONT, IL — Current State Representative for the 82nd District John Egofske has announced he will resign from the position, effective on Friday, according to a release from his office.

In September, Egofske said he would not seek election to the House of Representatives due to his responsibilities as Mayor of Lemont. Egofske was appointed as state representative earlier this year after Representative Jim Durkin resigned.

“I want to thank our residents for the opportunity to proudly serve our district over the past year,” Egofske said in a release. “I continue to be an advocate for common-sense policies that prioritize fiscal responsibility, economic development, public safety, and lower property taxes.”

According to the release, a public appointment process by the party officials will be initiated to determine who will succeed Egofske before the Illinois House reconvenes for Spring Session on Jan. 16.
