Whiz Kid: 6-Year-Old Milo Greenspon Designs Winning 'Kops-n-Kidz' T-Shirt

The 6-year-old Lemont resident was honored by the Lemont Village Board and Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy on Monday night.

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Milo was honored at the Lemont Village Board meeting on Monday, July 9, for creating the winning 2012 Kops-n-Kidz T-shirt design.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Each year, the asks children in the community to design the T-shirt for Kops-n-Kidz Day, a free event that features a number of family activities and opportunities to interact with Lemont police officers.

The winner's design is printed on more than 600 T-shirts, which are handed out to kids the day of the event.

Milo's design featured a sketch of Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy and the department's K-9, Taser.

For winning, Milo received a proclamation from Mayor Brian Reaves, a Lemont Police Department polo and a gift certificate to Toys-R-Us.

The sixth annual Kops-n-Kidz Day will kick off at 9:45 a.m Saturday, Aug. 4, with a bike parade from Lions Park, 60 W. Roberta St., to , 16028 W. 127th St. Festivities will be held at Centennial from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All children ages 16 and under will receive a coupon for a free lunch and treat, as well as entry into a kids raffle. Police will also be give away free T-shirts and bike helmets while supplies last.

Activities this year include a scavenger hunt, party photo booth, face and nail painting, crime scene demonstration, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatables, and a live DJ.

The event will also feature several emergency vehicles—including a helicopter, motorcycles, police cars and fire trucks.
