Whiz Kids' School:
Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: Held a successful car wash at for Relay for Life, raising $1,135.25. In May, the team raised nearly $400 by shaving their heads to honor the moms and loved ones who lost their hair during cancer treatments.
Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: Team captains Brendan and Meaghan McGuire said, "We were an awesome success! In total we raised $1,035.25 in the car wash, and sold $100 in luminarias for a grand total of $1,135.25! There is no way we could have ever thought we would raise that much money in four hours! Only four hours and we have increased our total money raised from $2,146.50 to $3,281.75! We were a "Rising Star" status team, but we are climbing up the ladder of succes as we are now a "Bronze" team after raising over $2,500. The next step of the ladder is "Silver" status, which means that $3,500 is our new goal!"
During Relay for Life, participants walk for 12 hours to raise awareness and funding for cancer research. The Lemont-Homer Glen event is scheduled for Friday, July 13, at the Lemont High School Sports Complex, 131st Street and Bell Road.
