Armitage Glazed & Infused Finally Finished; Grand Opening Friday

Residents will soon be drooling over a new Lincoln Park doughnut shop that offers candy cane twist, mint chocolate cake and other unique treats, both morning and night. The store is debuting tonight under a familiar Brown Line stop.

Finally, the day has come.

Tonight, Lincoln Park's new Glazed & Infused doughnut shop, 939 W. Armitage Ave. is hosting its official grand opening. The business' anticipated opening in December was pushed back several times due to a longer-than-planned renovation phase, representatives have said.

Located directly under the Brown Line, the store mark's the company's fourth, store manager James Gray said last month.

"We are expanding so rapidly that it's a matter of simply needing more space to do all the things that we do on a regular basis," said Gray, who manages all three already existing Glazed & Infused stores. " … This Armitage location is centrally located in a high density neighborhood and we want to maximize our opportunity with commuters getting on and off the train."

Glazed & Infused is known for its creative, mouth-watering doughnuts including options like maple bacon, egg nog-bourbon and Crème brûlée, which rotate regularly.

Although doughnuts are traditionally considered a breakfast food, Gray says Glazed & Infused is embracing the trend of the pastries becoming more of a dessert or treat, similar to a cupcake.

With seating for about 20 people, the Armitage spot is large enough to host doughnut decorating parties and other private events, Gray has said, and will remain open later than any existing location—from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. every week day and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.

The grand opening event will last from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 18. Those attending will enjoy free doughnuts and espresso, representatives said.
