Cars Cut off to Lake Shore for Part of Memorial Day Weekend
For a five-hour window, there will be no cars allowed on Lake Shore Drive this coming weekend.

Lake Shore Drive traffic will not be bumper to bumper this Sunday. It will be tire to tire—Bike tires, that is.
The Active Transportation Alliance is reminding residents and visitors that the artery will be open only to bicyclists this Memorial Day weekend for the 12th Annual MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive.
It will be closed Sunday to vehicle traffic from Hollywood Avenue south to 59th Street between 5:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Cars will be able to access the Museum Campus via 18th Street and Navy Pier via Illinois Street, according to a news release.

The route begins at Columbus Drive and Jackson Drive. The round-trip distance encompasses 30 scenic miles, with the northern turnaround point at Bryn Mar Avenue and the southern turnaround at 57th Street.
Those registering are encouraged to join the Active Transportation Alliance, which is a nonprofit, member-based advocacy organization that works to make bicycling, walking and public transit so safe, convenient and fun.
The organization builds a movement around active transportation, encourages physical activity, increases safety and builds a world-class transportation network.
