- Working toward a compromise for the redevelopment of Children’s Memorial Hospital that draws reasonable density back to Lincoln Avenue businesses; and
- Providing LPCC members and local businesses a fair and welcoming landscape in which to conduct business as well as a unified voice and directed leadership; and
- Supporting individual members or industries as they look to maximize their investment in the Lincoln Park community;
- Revisiting the proposed Residential Permit Parking Task Force; and
- Working to normalize and ease the process for new businesses to open in Lincoln Park or for existing businesses to expand their operation.
In addition to working with local Aldermen, State Representatives, Cook County Commissioners and neighborhood organizations, the LPCC leverages relationships in City Hall and other policy-makers to drive business growth and neighborhood vibrancy. When appropriate, the LPCC seeks support from specific local businesses – or the entire membership – for the betterment of the entire community. The LPCC provides advocacy resources as a benefit of chamber membership in support of the organization’s mission.
“The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Agenda is a valuable piece for determining the landscape for upcoming policy, development or business climate changes that need careful analysis and attention,” Kim Schilf, LPCC President and CEO, said in a news release. “Through careful study of current trends, and by using the past as prologue for our future, the LPCC Board and Government Affairs Committee are confident in our ability to support the needs of our passionate member base.
“Beyond our working relationship with our elected officials—at the City, County and State level—we work tirelessly on our connections with community leadership at neighborhood organizations and Lincoln Park’s largest institutions,” Schilf said. “The goal of these partnerships is a stronger Lincoln Park to live, visit or do business. Together we can achieve this goal.”
The LPCC’s 2013 Legislative Agenda was drafted the LPCC’s Government Affairs Committee and approved by the LPCC Board of Directors at their February 13, 2013 meeting.
