Blackhawks Streak Inspires Free Doghouse Treat

Lincoln Park's Chicago Doghouse is offering free deep-fried Oreos in the wake of a historic Chicago Blackhawks streak. Should the streak reach 23 games tonight, the free treats will continue flowing.

The Chicago Blackhawks' winning streak is bringing more than just pride to those in Lincoln Park. It's bringing free deep-fried Oreos.

The dish is courtesy of Aaron Wolfson, owner of Lincoln Park’s Chicago Doghouse, 816 W. Fullerton Ave. Opened since the summer of 2009, the restaurant offers a mix between gourmet and fast food.

Wolfson's treats—Oreos dipped in a chocolate cake batter-peanut butter mix, and then fried—resemble hockey pucks, according to RedEye Chicago.

The publication reports:

“It came to me, these little things look like hockey pucks,” (Wolfson) said. “You know what I’m going to do? We’re going to give them away every time the Hawks win.”

And he’s made good on the promise for the last two wins for the red-hot Hawks. He said dozens of customers have come into the shop to claim their free dessert, no strings attached.

The undefeated-in-regulation Chicago Blackhawks clenched their 22nd win Sunday afternoon against the Detroit Red Wings.

They're scheduled to face off in a home game tonight, Tuesday, March 5, against the Minnesota Wild. Their record is 19-0-3.
