Prosecutors: Suspect Danced, Sang, Then Stabbed
A man who was being held in connection with a Red Line stabbing earlier this week has been formally charged with attempted murder, said officials from the Cook County States Attorney's Office.

Bail was set at $500,000 this week for a man accused of stabbing a CTA rider in nearby Old Town after he was reportedly seen dancing, singing and boozing.
Martez Byrd, 33, of the 6500 block of North Glenwood Avenue, was officially charged Wednesday with one count of attempted murder, according to representatives from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
He would need to post 10 percent of his bail, or $50,000, in order to be released.

Charges stem from a Monday evening incident on the Red Line's North/Clybourn platform, police said.
Byrd reportedly attacked a 35-year-old man there and stabbed him once in the chest and once in the thigh. The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Lake View.

DNA Info reports that authorities said Byrd pierced the victim "inches from (his) heart" after an argument.
The publication says:
(Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine) Scaduto said the victim "tried to ignore" Byrd. But when the man got off the train, Byrd threw a beer bottle at him.
When the victim told Byrd to "take it easy," he allegedly said "I'm going to f------ stab you" and followed the man to the escalator.
After stabbing the man, Byrd is accused of encountering him again—while the victim was bleeding—and waging another attack, DNA Info says.
A state's attorney spokesman said Thursday that Byrd is next due in court on April 1.
Chicago police did not immediately return a request Thursday morning seeking the full incident report.
