Chicago Dentist Secretly Taped Teen In North Side Beach Men's Room: Prosecutors

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago dentist is accused of masturbating in the stall of a North Side beach restroom while he used a cellphone to record a teen undressing last week, according to prosecutors. Gregory Stump, 68, of the 1400 block of North Dearborn Street, was charged with possession of child pornography and unauthorized video recording of a minor, and a judge ordered him released on electronic monitoring Monday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

According to prosecutors, Stump was discovered by Chicago police at around 4:15 p.m. Friday, July 21, in a men's restroom stall at North Avenue Beach, holding a cellphone over the partition in order to record a 16-year-old boy changing out of a swimsuit, the report stated. At the time, Stump allegedly was naked in his stall and masturbating as he taped the boy, the report added. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Chicago — or your neighborhood. More images of boys and men were found after police did a search of Stump's phone, which included depictions of them using urinals, as well as images of a boy naked from the waist down as he pulled up his pants, the report stated. All of the images were shot from an overhead angle similar to the angle Stump allegedly used when police discovered him in the stall, the report added.

Stump initially had been released Saturday, July 22, but he remained in jail over the weekend because of a mixup with paperwork, the report stated. His dental license remains unaffected by the arrest, and a judge granted a request by Stump's lawyer that allows the dentist to see underage patients as long as the children's parents were present, the report added. Stump has a dental practice in Schaumburg, where he previously lived.

In 2014, Stump pleaded guilty to public indecency after he was arrested by Elk Grove Village police for allegedly performing oral sex in a parking lot, according to the Chicago Tribune.
