Chicago Lands in the Middle of the Pack of Most Active U.S. Cities

If a recent list concerning 85 U.S. cities is to be believed, Chicago residents aren’t the most active in the country. But they’re not a bunch of lazy loafers either.

Chicago ranked No. 42 in a list of the most active cities in the United States conducted by betterdoctor.com, a medical website. Aurora, Colo., topped the list of 85 cities surveyed, and Laredo, Texas, was at the bottom.

To get its results, the survey factored in the percentage of residents who exercised, percentage of residents at a healthy weight and access to high-quality parks and outdoor spaces.

Almost 77 percent of Chicago residents said they exercised in the past 30 days, but almost 39 percent of the city’s residents were at a healthy weight, according to the list.
