Pothole Problems: CDOT Fixes 300 in Lincoln Park
Chicago Department of Transportation representatives said they already repaired more than 100,000 potholes so far this year.

With rapid weather changes, come potholes.
For Lincoln Park—and Chicago, overall—that means a lot of them. But the Chicago Department of Transportation recently announced that it filled more than 100,000 potholes in March alone. That's 36,000 more than in the same month of 2012.
In Lincoln Park, workers actually repaired 62 fewer holes, according to city data. They fixed 182 in March 2012 and 114 this year. Overall, 297 potholes have been remedied in Lincoln Park in 2013.

"An average of 6,000 potholes a day have been filled by 27 crews working for the Chicago Department of Transportation, said department spokesman Peter Scales," according to a Sun-Times Media report. "March is traditionally the busiest pothole month of the year ..."

A new scheduling format last year helped city staff remove a backlog of more than 3,700 potholes, according to a city news release.
“In addition to adopting new efficiencies, we are addressing the core problem of potholes, which is streets whose surfaces are in need of repair or complete resurfacing,”said Gabe Klein, commissioner for the department, in the release.
“ ... We continue to aggressively fill and repair potholes, which cause traffic problems and delays and pose dangers to pedestrians and bicyclists."
