Closed: Chicago's Original Argo Tea on Armitage
Armitage Avenue lost another business this week with the closure of Argo Tea.

The city's original Argo Tea has shuttered its doors.
Located off one of Lincoln Park's busiest intersections, the shop was at 958 W. Armitage Ave.
Staff members were clearing out the business on Monday and the website was updated with news of the closure by Tuesday evening. Its voice mail, however, gave no indication that the storefront had closed.

"We are committed to being a sustainable business by working with the best local and global tea, coffee, and food artisans and by contributing back to our communities to promote a healthy lifestyle and the conservation of natural resources," its website says.
A total of 13 Argo Tea locations remain within the city, with another planned for 871 N. Wabash, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
"The company is seeing a shift in business, in which sales of bottle drinks are growing faster than cafe sales," its report says.
The Canada-based company DAVIDsTEA Inc. recently opened a tea shop down the block at 924 W. Armitage Ave. The chain also sprouted two other Chicago stores—one at 1645 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown and the other, 3530 N. Southport in Lake View.
