Coming Soon: Eleven City Diner, Jewish Delicatessen
A renown South Loop diner is making its way to Lincoln Park this coming spring, according to reports.
A popular South Loop restaurant is opening a second location right here in Lincoln Park.
Brad Rubin, owner of Eleven City Diner, is bringing a new diner with a Jewish delicatessen feel to 2301 N. Clark St. in the Belden Centre, according to the Chicago Tribune.
"Growing up in Chicago and traveling by car and motorbike throughout all 50 states since I was a kid gave me an insatiable taste and respect for this food and culture," Rubin says, on his website, in reference to the "old-school diner" atmosphere. "A casual family restaurant is the cornerstone of a great Chicago neighborhood."

He considers Eleven City as a hybrid of his "sincere respect for what family dining rooms used to be."
"I do hope that our restaurant rekindles the feelings of true friendly 'diners'", he says. " ... The type of quality restaurants so many of us grew up with (and still crave) which have slowly, but steadily, disappeared from our city’s street corners."

The Chicago Tribune reports that Eleven City's future location was once home to the original Belden Deli.
"The building was torn down to make room for the Belden Centre, a condo and retail project," the story says. "In May, Leon Greenberg and Paul Leff opened a Belden Deli in the Centre, but the venture closed in October after Leff's untimely death."
