Cops Search for Sexual Assault Suspect

Police on the North Side are on the prowl for a man who they said attacked a woman in an alley over the weekend.

Chicago Police are searching for a man who they said approached a woman early Friday morning on the city's North Side to rob and sexually assault her.

Authorities sent a community alert shortly after 1 p.m. Monday regarding the attack, which occurred in the 5600 block of North Kenmore Avenue, near where Kenmore intersects West Bryn Mawr Avenue.

They said the man approached the woman around 5:40 a.m. in an alleyway in that area of Edgewater, "struck her numerous times in the head" before robbing her and trying to sexually assault her.

The offender is described as a black man between the ages of 18 and 25 years old.

He stands at around 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds, according to the alert. He was last seen wearing a white jacket with a red stripe on each shoulder.

Police are reminding residents to be careful in their communities.

  • Tell your neighbors in the area about this crime. 
  • Call 911 to report any suspicious people, vehicles or activity in your community.
