Dog’s Bollox Replaces Nearby Irish Pub
Beckett's Public House is completely transformed into The Dog's Bollox, a new "global street snacks" restaurant at the corner of Lincoln, Ashland and Belmont avenues.
Say “Goodbye” to Beckett’s Public House near the corner of Lincoln, Ashland and Belmont avenues, and “Hello” to The Dog’s Bollox, a completely new restaurant with a unique menu.
The new space with an Irish-slang name held its grand opening celebration on Thursday after about a month of hard work. Located in nearby Lake View, a bit north of the Lincoln Park border, the bar is at 3210 N. Lincoln Ave. Owners say Dog’s Bollox will be nothing like the former Irish pub.
Owners Munster Taverns and Patrick Eberle—of Sheffield’s Beer & Wine Garden, Fountainhead and Wilde Bar and Restaurant—have created a new menu of global street snacks and 28 rotating beers on draft.

Examples on the “Wee” plate menu range from Socca Nicoise, a roasted chickpea crepe from France, to a UK-style steak and ale pie. That’s combined with a late night menu and a “munch” menu with even more unique items.
The makeover is based on Eberle’s “extensive globe-trotting experiences.” And the new menu is paired with a new interior featuring an artistic conceptual design.

Changes at The Dog’s Bollox are in line with the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce’s new plan to put more emphasis on the Lincoln Avenue business corridor.
Along with the group controlling Special Service Area 27—a property tax focused on improving Lake View—the chamber plans to present a revitalization plan to Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd) in the near future.
