Driver Strikes Woman, 5-Year-Old in Lincoln Park Crosswalk
A mother and child were hit by a car Monday while crossing from one side to the other of North Clark Street in Lincoln Park.

A mother and child were taken to area hospitals after they were hit by a car Monday morning in a Lincoln Park crosswalk.
The woman, who is in her 60s, was crossing the street with her 5-year-old child around noon in the 2400 block of North Clark Street, according to representatives from the Chicago Police Department's 19th District. The two were reportedly hit in a crosswalk that was marked with cones near Clark's intersection with Fullerton Parkway.
"The citizens were … in a crosswalk and the striking vehicle did not stop and give them the right of way," Chicago Police Cpt. Michael Ryan told Patch shortly around 2:50 p.m. "They were treated at the scene and taken to hospitals."

The woman was sent to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, while the child was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital, according to Chicago Police News Affairs. Ryan categorized their injuries as "non-life threatening" Monday afternoon.

The driver of the Toyota Camry that struck the pair was cited for failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. His name had not been released as of 3 p.m.
