Driver Wanted for Fatal Hit-and-Run, Police Say
Chicago Police are searching for the driver behind a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Thursday morning, just south of Lincoln Park.

Investigators are looking for the driver of a Hyundai Sonata who struck and killed a pedestrian in nearby Goose Island early Thursday morning.
The victim was a 40-year-old man who was walking in the 1000 block of West Division Street at 4:17 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and O'Brien said around 9 a.m. Thursday that he was listed in critical condition. But Chicago Police issued an alert at 1 p.m. indicating that the victim had died.

"The vehicle would have been traveling west on Division just prior to the hit-and-run and then would have continued west on Division after the incident," the alert says. " ... Help is needed from the community (to solve) this crime."

O'Brien said there are no witnesses listed in the report. The notice indicates that the driver was in a dark blue or black Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle was a newer 2010 to 2013 model, police say.
