Peanut sauce-covered satays, Asian-style wings and savory crepes are just steps away at the newest of two Indonesian restaurants in Lincoln Park.

And ABC 7 News reporter Steve Dolinsky recently stopped in to take the food at Rickshaw Republic, 2312 N. Lincoln Ave., for a ride. The restaurant is located very near the DePaul University campus.

"In Jakarta, oh man you see a lot of people selling food on the streets and from stalls; that's the food that we grew up with," Emil Setiawan, who runs the restaurant with his family, told Dolinsky. " ... Peanut is the biggest ingredient that we have in our country and also with coconut milk."

The BYOB restaurant boasts free parking in an adjacent garage, according to its website. Its mantra is "authentic, unpretentious and delicious."

"Rickshaw Republic brings together the vibrant culture of South East Asia and it’s street food scene, under one roof," the site says. "Traditional dishes that are sold at street carts everywhere, are carefully crafted using recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation."
