Impostor Poses as Cop at Local Accident Scene
Police said a Chicagoan at a Lincoln Park accident scene told two people he was a city police officer. Investigators did not find the man's name in the city's database, however.

Police said a middle-aged man posing last week as a cop at a Lincoln Park accident scene is not listed in the city's official officer database.
The suspect was at a Jan. 24 car crash that occurred around 10 a.m. near the intersection of North Lincoln and West Wrightwood avenues in Lincoln Park, according to the police report. The report did not indicate whether or not the man was involved in the crash.
A 22-year-old driver and a witness said he approached them and presented himself as a Chicago police officer. When challenged to provide his identification he reportedly, "flashed some type of 'official looking badge' along with his state driver's license."

The driver used her cell phone to photograph the suspect's license, who is listed as living in the 1800 block of West Montrose Avenue. She also took a picture of his vehicle's temporary driver's license.Â
The suspect soon got into his car and left the premisis. Police sent out an alert that day regarding the impostor, they said. They ran his name through their database and determined he was not listed as an officer. The case remained under investigation Monday morning. At that time, the man was not yet listed on the city's list of police impersonators.
