Know Your Neighborhood: Lincoln Park, North Side Violent Offenders
Stay informed with a map of the known addresses of registered violent offenders in the 43rd and 32nd wards, along with others in or near neighboring communities.
Patch took a look at the Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry and found that there is currently one registered violent offender living in Lincoln Park.
There are two offenders in nearby Lake View; three just west of the North Center and Lincoln Square borders; and two in Bucktown and Wicker Park. Five other offenders are very near Bucktown and Wicker Park.
Lincoln Park's registered violent offender is Pike D. Nelson, 42, of the 2000 Block of North Cleveland Avenue. He was recently convicted of one count of domestic battery causing bodily harm, according to Illinois State Police.
He was 41 at the time of the offense and the victim was 8 years old, police say. He was released and granted parole.

Under Andrea’s Law, convicted offenders are required to register as violent offenders for 10 years upon their release from prison.
Persons required to register as Violent Offender Against Youths are persons who have been convicted of an offense listed in Illinois Compiled Statutes 730 ILCS 154/5 when such charge was not sexually motivated and resulted in a conviction, a finding of not guilty by reason of insanity or a finding not resulting in an acquittal at a hearing for the alleged commission or attempted commission of the offense.
The Chicago Police Department discloses the name, address, date of birth, place of employment, school attended and offense or adjudication of all violent offenders against youth to the child care facilities, libraries, higher education facilities and school boards or administrative offices of all schools within the region.
