Man Tried To Sexually Assault Lincoln Park Store Worker: Cops

Chicago police released a photo of the suspect accused of attacking a woman who was working at the retailer Thursday.

CHICAGO, IL — Police are looking for a man who is accused of trying to sexually assault a 26-year-old employee at a Lincoln Park store Thursday. The incident happened at a retail outlet in the 4800 block of North Western Avenue, according to Chicago police. A description and photo of the suspect taken from a store security camera video was released by investigators in a community alert.

According to police, the suspect entered the store at around 2:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, and asked the woman working at the store — the business' only employee at the time — about different products. The suspect then allegedly ran behind the service counter and tried to attack the woman.

The victim was able to escape the suspect and flee the store, police said. Before leaving, the suspect damaged store items and then ran west on Western Avenue, according to police. The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 35 to 45 years old, about 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall, around 250 pounds to 280 pounds. The man also had several tattoos on his lower right arm.

During the incident, the suspect wore a backwards, maroon-colored, Chicago Blackhawks cap, a dark-colored T-shirt, dark-colored jeans and black-colored Timberland-style shoes. The suspect also was carrying a black-colored hooded jacket.
