NEWCITY Announces Lineup for 2022 “Sounds of Summer” Concert Series

While the first day of summer is June 21st, Chicago’s warm temperatures have given a head start to one of the most favorite season’s the Windy City has to offer.

Once again, NEWCITY will be hosting its outdoor music series “Sounds of Summer” on select Thursdays throughout the months of June, July, and August. Rod Tuffcurls and The Bench Press will be first to kick off the series on Thursday, June 9th from 7pm-9-pm in NEWCITY’s plaza (1457 N Halsted Avenue). A cover band whose been entertaining crowds across the Midwest since 2008, Rod Tuffcurls unique song repertoire combined with excellent musicianship, bone-crushing 3-part vocal harmonies, and a contagious stage energy will have the audience dancing to hits ranging from The Beatles, Madonna, Queen, Miley Cyrus, Wilson Phillips, and Dave Matthews Band. The featured charitable organization for the evening will be Bike MS.

Additional “Sounds of Summer” bands scheduled to perform include The PriSSillas, Wedding Banned, Sixteen Candles, Hello Weekend, Mike & Joe, The Boy Band Night, and many more.

“Sounds of Summer” is NEWCITY’s free outdoor concert series that takes place during the summer months in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. For each event, NEWCITY highlights a local charity who will receive 100% of sales from beverages, raffles, and donations. Participating organizations include Bike MS, One Tail at a Time, Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS), and The Payne Family Fund.

While there is limited on-site seating, there is plenty of room for blankets and chairs so grab your friends, family, and neighbors and enjoy an evening of live music! NEWCITY eateries such as Earl’s Kitchen + Bar, Nando’s PERi PERi, Tecalitlan and Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea will have food and select beverages available for takeout.
