UPDATED: Suspected Serial Robber Chase Ends in Shooting (VIDEO)

A police chase that started in River North ended in Bucktown around midnight Wednesday, when officers reportedly shot a man suspected in a series of North Side armed robberies.

The man was stopped at Six Corners—on the Bucktown-Wicker Park border where Milwaukee, North and Damen avenues cross—after robbing a Subway restaurant on State Street near Chicago Avenue, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police said he may be behind more than a dozen other North Side robberies.

LAKE VIEW

New Restaurant with Cuban Flair Heading to Lake View

Those itching to sit down for some authentic Cuban food in Lake View are in luck, because new restaurant Sabor Cubano is headed to North Broadway.

Slated to fill the former New Peking Chinese Restaurant at 3132 N. Broadway next to Wilde Bar & Restaurant, restaurant owner Pedro Suarez says he plans to officially sign the paperwork for the 2,000-square-foot space next week.

LINCOLN PARK

A familiar neon glow no longer illuminates the window of a hidden gem tucked near the corner of Clark Street and Wrightwood Avenues. 

But don't worry, Lincoln Perk hasn't shuttered its doors. The BYOB coffee shop and cafe has merely gotten a face-lift—and a name change. Although the black and red "Lincoln Perk" sign still hung overhead Wednesday at 612 W. Wrightwood Ave., signs and decals bearing the name "La Cucina di Laura" adorned the windows.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Gregory Berlowitz wants to know where his food comes from.

Whether its veggies without pesticides, or milk from cows that haven’t been fed antibiotics, he’d rather have organic food at an affordable price. That’s why Berlowitz is spearheading an effort to start a community-run grocery on the North Side, known as a food co-operative. 

The food co-op is basically a large grocery store owned by a collective group of residents. Anyone can shop at the co-op, but members will receive special discounts. Its members are technically owners who buy in with a fee.

NORTH CENTER-ROSCOE VILLAGE

Where do North Center’s Wealthiest Live?

It’s no surprise that household income in North Center and Roscoe Village is well above the state's average, but certain blocks in the community are far wealthier than others.

It’s all broken down by the website Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks, an online tool that combines Google Maps with the most recent Census data to show income and rent prices in every neighborhood in America.

According to the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey from 2007-2011, the richest people in town live south of Belmont Avenue to Diversey Parkway, and west of Ravenswood Avenue to Damen Avenue.
