PHOTOS: Four-Legged Friends Storm Montrose Harbor

Pets and their human counterparts flocked to the lake on Sunday for a walk-run that benefitted homeless pets in Chicago.

Pups—some clad in costume—joined their two-legged companions over the weekend for a run intended to help put roofs over the heads of Chicago's homeless pets.

The PAWS Chicago Run for Their Lives event drew more than 2,200 animal lovers to Montrose Harbor on Sunday morning. All were eager to participate in the event's 8K run or 4K walk, said PAWS Spokeswoman Sarah Ahlberg.

The fundraiser generated money for homeless pets, an amount that had yet to be tabulated as of Monday.
