PHOTOS: Work Under Way at Williams-Sonoma
Construction on the next piece in The Shops on Fremont project was moving along steadily this past week.
Workers were busy this past week inside Lincoln Park's future Williams-Sonoma, which is scheduled to be finished in the next few months.
The company hasn't publicized a firm opening date but construction is expected to wrap up in the late spring or early summer. The store, in the 1500 block of North Fremont Street, will be the second in Chicago, though several are located in the surrounding suburbs. The first at 900 N. Michigan Ave. is among the company's busiest, company representatives have said.
The local Williams-Sonoma will share a 15,000-square-foot building with the newly opened, adjacent Anthropologie.

Deerfield-based CRM Properties Group Ltd. is behind the venture. The developer acquired a $19 million construction loan in March 2012 to add to the Clybourn Corridor, according to Cook County records. The area includes 2.5 acres spread over four parcels.

The first Williams-Sonoma store opened in 1956, selling a small array of cookware imported from France. Since then, the brand has expanded to hundreds of home furnishing products from around the world, more than 250 stores nationwide, a direct-mail business that distributes millions of catalogs a year, and a e-commerce site.
