Police on Prowl for Culprit of Lincoln Park Criminal Sex Assault

Chicago Police issued an alert Wednesday regarding a man who tried sexually assaulting a woman in Lincoln Park earlier this week.

Chicago Police issued an alert Wednesday afternoon regarding a criminal sexual assault that reportedly occurred earlier this week in Lincoln Park.

The incident was on Aug. 4 around 12:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Magnolia Avenue, near where the avenue intersects Dickens. That area is covered by the department's 18th district.

"The offender attempted to sexually assault a female victim while she waited for her friend to return home," police said.

The suspect is believed to be a 40- to 44-year-old man who police describe as "white Hispanic." He stands between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 120 to 150 pounds. 

He has a dark complexion and black hair.

Police are encouraging residents to always be aware of their surroundings, walk in pairs or groups and dial 911 to report suspicious activity immediately.

They also say you should never pursue a fleeing assailant and instead, provide his or her information to police.

Anyone with information about the recent criminal sexual assault is asked to call the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8380.
