This Week's Pet: Astute Shepherd-Pit Puppy
This week's PAWS Chicago pet is a 5-month-old pup who got a second chance at life after winding up in the hands of animal control. She's smart, playful and sweet. Interested?
Carmen is a Shepherd-Pit mix puppy in pursuit of her forever home.
This cute puppy came to PAWS when she was about 3-months-old. Her previous owner couldn’t care for her any longer, so he dropped her off at Animal Control. Thankfully, her luck took a turn for the better when she was transferred to PAWS Chicago Adoption Center in Lincoln Park, where pets are guaranteed life.
These days Carmen is about 5-months-old and a friendly, happy-go-lucky girl! She loves people, although she is still working on appropriate play. She would do best in a home with adults who are 18 years old or older while she works on improving her mouthy puppy behavior.

Carmen is quite intelligent and would be an excellent candidate for agility classes or those focusing on other canine sports. She also loves puzzle toys and, characteristic to her breed, she thrives when she has a job to do.

The sweet pup likes other dogs, and gets along swimmingly with her canine roommate at the adoption center. An adopter who will continue to expose her to lots of other friendly dogs while she is young would be perfect, as it will allow her to mature into a well-socialized adult.
Carmen will bring so much life and laughter to her new family. She just needs someone who can see her potential.
Will you give her a place to call home?
