Two Attackers Target DePaul Student

Officials from DePaul University issued an alert this week regarding an on-campus attack of a victim who was walking home late at night.

DePaul University issued an alert this week after a student was reportedly attacked on campus.

The victim was on Belden Avenue walking home from the Ray Meyer Fitness Center, 2235 N. Sheffield Ave., around 11:20 p.m. on Monday when two men approached him from behind and hit him in the head, according to the alert, which deployed Tuesday to the university community. The incident occurred near 1230 W. Belden Ave.

The victim, whose age was not released Thursday, then fell to the ground.

"The victim then yelled and the two men fled the scene," the alert said. "Public safety would like to remind everyone to be aware of their surroundings and use the escort service while on the Lincoln Park campus."

Additional information regarding the attack was not immediately available Thursday.
