Yankee Stadium Sells Goose Island as Import Brew

Those at Yankee Stadium obviously consider Goose Island to be a faraway place rather than one right here in Lincoln Park, according to reports.

"Goose Island" may sound like a far-off place but any Chicagoan can tell you it's a beer company hailing, at least in part, from Lincoln Park.

That's not the case for those in New York, though. DNAinfo recently reported that those selling the beer at Yankee Stadium marked it as an "import" and were charging $12 for each 24-ounce pour.

"Now, after a DNAinfo.com New York reporter pointed out the gaffe, Yankee Stadium is hastily changing the names of its beer carts," the story says. "It's the second beer do-over for the Yankees in the past month."

The stadium recently renamed its "Craft Beer Destination" booth after a fan noticed several options on the list were not of the craft—or beer—variety, according to the story.

"Legends Hospitality, the company that operates the stadium’s concessions, said Wednesday that the company is in the process of switching out signs at its four 'import' beer carts to more accurately reflect its offerings," the publication reports.

Goose Island is owned by Anheuser-Busch but many of its beers are still brewed in the city.
