'Unwined' After Work with New Series from Gather

The new monthly event from Gather combines food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere.

Wine lovers in Lincoln Square can travel the world in a monthly series debuting in one of the neighborhood’s newest restaurants.

Gather, at 4539 N. Lincoln Ave., began family dinners in December, but now they’re focusing on relieving the stress of a long work day.

The "UnWined Sessions" premiere Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and will feature four to five wines with food for $48.

Chef Ken Carter, formerly of Charlie Trotter’s, will customize dishes for the flavor profiles of each wine while staying true to the eatery’s contemporary American concept.

Session themes will change every month, with the first taking inspiration from the Ides of March. “The Wines of March” pulls from the wine and food of the Roman Empire.

Participants will sit in the restaurant’s back room, but wine lovers should make reservations early; the room only accommodates 12 guests.

Owner David Breo said he wants the events to have a fun and informal tone, rather than an instructional one. Food will be served family-style while Gather’s sommelier tells the story of the night's wines.
