Montrose Green Planting Seeds for Second Season
Registration is coming up for the community garden that began in 2012.

Residents of Lincoln Square and Northcenter can grow their own veggies alongside neighbors for the second time at Montrose Green this spring.
The community garden, a product of the Peterson Garden Project and Northcenter Neighborhood Association, opened in 2012 at 1819 W. Montrose Ave.
The garden’s 137 plots were sold out in less than 24 hours, said Lisa Hish, who helped start the project. More than 100 families reserved plots along with areas for the Common Food Pantry and local restaurants.

Returning members get first dibs, and registration for them opened on Wednesday.
New members can register starting March 4, with spaces on a first come, first serve basis. For $75, members receive the garden plot, education about gardening and access to the project’s events.
