Crime Increases 20 Percent from February to March
Theft was the most common crime reported in Lincoln Square during the month of March.

Lincoln Square crime reports increased by more than 30 from February to March.
Patch examined police reports using the City of Chicago Data Portal, and created a heat map showing the areas with the most incidents reported.
In February, residents reported the most crime at the Western Brown Line Station. That area remains the most crime-ridden, but two other areas also showed an increase in crime: the intersection of Wilson and Lincoln avenues and the intersection of Talman and Gunnison Street.

While crime has shifted to the southern end of the neighborhood, the total number of reports has increased by 38. The 19th and 20th Districts saw 144 crimes in February, but 182 in March. Officers made almost 30 arrests and the most common type of crime was theft with 54 reports.
