FBI: 'Mummy Bandit' Robbed Lincoln Square, Northcenter Banks

Investigators say the same man who robbed a nearby bank in Lincoln Square is responsible for Sunday's bank robbery in Northcenter, along with several others.

The FBI connected a recent bank robbery in Northcenter to a string of robberies by a man who wraps his face in gauze.

Dubbed the “Mummy Bandit” by the FBI, the suspect hit his fifth bank on Sunday. Previous robberies include banks near Lincoln Square and Wicker Park.

The man, who police say is white, in his 30s, 230 pounds and 6-foot-3, carries accessories like a green toy or bucket. The suspect doesn’t display a weapon and no injuries have been reported during robberies, according to the FBI.

On Sunday, around 10:10 a.m., the man entered the TCF Bank inside a Jewel Osco at 4250 N. Lincoln Ave. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Chicago Police Department.
