Global Art and Jewelry Store Going Out of Business
East Meets West, a boutique that features clothing, art, jewelry and devotional objects from around the world, is selling the rest of their merchandise before closing.
A local art and jewelry boutique is closing its doors after eight years in the community.
East Meets West, at 2118 W. Lawrence Avenue, put up ‘Going Out of Business’ signs that said remaining merchandise is 35 to 60 percent off.
“We’re pretty much closed, but we’ll have events and we’ll be open at random,” owner Indira Choudrey said. Choudrey owns the store with her son, Sanjay.

The store hours are from 12 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 12 to 5 p.m. on the weekends. But Choudrey said she will be there sporadically.
If residents catch the store with open doors, they can find hand-made jewelry, scarves and art from India. About 20 percent of the merchandise remains, Choudrey said.

East Meets West moved from Evanston to Lawrence Avenue in 2004. Six years later, the owners expanded to a yoga and meditation studio, which is also closed.
“Many, many thanks to all who made EMW Yoga such a special place to practice asana together. Namaste!” the yoga store’s Yelp page reads.
