Lincoln Square Chef Voted Rising Star by Peers

Goosefoot chef and owner Chris Nugent earned an award not from food writers, but from the Chicago food community.

On top of acclamations from food writers and the Michelin Guide, Goosefoot chef and owner Chris Nugent received honors from his colleagues in the Chicago chef community.

The Lincoln Square resident who opened Goosefoot on Lawrence Avenue in 2011, was awarded Best New Chef in the Jean Blanchet Awards for Culinary Excellence.

The program is the only Chicago-based awards where the winners are selected by a secret ballot of participating chefs. More than 44 restaurants, mixologists and chefs earned nominations from the public.

Nugent accepted his award on Friday during the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Grand Chefs Gala.
