Los Nopales Owners Expand with Edgewater Restaurant
Adan and Mirella Moreno are taking on a new challenge in a new neighborhood.
Just three months after earning Michelin honors, the owners of Los Nopales are making headlines again.
Husband and wife Adan and Mirella Moreno opened the Lincoln Square Mexican restaurant in 2005 and are adding another eatery to the family.
Their new conquest is called Mas Alla del Sol and it opens Friday in Edgewater, according to Chicago Magazine. The name means “Beyond the Sun” in Spanish. It’s the title of a song by Mirella Moreno’s favorite singer.

The two came to Edgewater because of the courtship of Ward 48 Ald. Harry Osterman. He convinced them to come to the neighborhood and open at 5848 N. Broadway, DNAinfo reports.
Adan Moreno’s fresh Mexican cuisine will continue with menu items like whole, pan-fried snapper, mole and queso fundido.
