Lululemon’s Recalled Yoga Pants Might Flash Your Downward Dog

A recent shipment of Lululemon’s popular black yoga bottoms are being recalled after the company found them to be a little too revealing.

The company posted a blog about the issue once it was discovered, saying the style of yoga pants affected account for roughly 17 percent of a store’s stock. Lululemon representatives said they first learned about the issue March 11, and as of Tuesday, they began pulling all the revealing yoga bottoms from the stores.

“At the beginning of March, our stores and e-commerce site received some black luon women's bottoms that didn't meet our high standards,” the company wrote in its blog. “The materials used in construction were the same but the coverage was not, resulting in increased sheerness. We want you to Down Dog and Crow with confidence and we felt these pants didn't measure up.”

Lululemon has stores located in prominent North Side business corridors, like:

• Lake View: 3556 N. Southport Ave.
• Bucktown, 1627 N. Damen Ave.
• Lincoln Park: 2104 N. Halsted St.

The store says its still looking into what happened with the luon at its factory in Taiwan, but in the meantime, there will be shortages at area Lululemon storefronts.  

And while the fabric snafu may make for a inappropriate giggle, it may have negative implications on the company’s revenue forecast. Analysts say the Vancouver, British Columbia-based Lululemon Athletica Inc. cut its first-quarter revenue forecast because of the recalled yoga pants, the Chicago Sun-Times discovered.

Officials now suspect the first-quarter to close around $333 million to $343 million compared to estimates around $350 million to $355 million.

Lululemon representatives say people who purchased the sheer pants since March 1 can return them for a full refund or exchange.
