PHOTOS: Ravenswood Hospital Demolition Continues
As the old hospital comes down at Winchester and Damen, so does 12 years of graffiti.
Demolition is going as planned for the closed Ravenswood Hospital at 4550 N. Winchester Ave.
After four months of asbestos removal, construction workers began tearing it down in October. Belowground demolition will go on through February and by April, the area will be a gravel lot.
The lot will remain empty until 2014, when a private school will take its place.

Lycée Français de Chicago, a French-language school for elementary and high school students, purchased the land in November 2011. They’ll start construction in 2014 with the hopes of opening in the fall of 2015.
Lycée rents its current location at 613 W. Bittersweet Pl. for the 660 students enrolled in the school.
