CHICAGO — Chicago police commanders from the 19th and 20th districts will join aldermen and community members this Wednesday to discuss recent shootings on Chicago's North Side. The meeting will give the public a chance to learn more about the shootings, learn what police are doing to combat the violence and share ideas about how the community can work together to make their areas safer, Ald. James Cappleman said in a letter to residents.

"Although we have all worked together over the past eight years to reduce the number of these incidents, I am very concerned about the sudden uptick in gun violence, which has been reported from Montrose north to Foster," Cappleman said. "All of the shootings have been targeted and gang-related."

Cappleman and Ald. Harry Osterman will host the meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. on May 15 at Furama Restaurant, 4936 N. Broadway.
