After his re-election in November, Rep. Mike Quigley will have a closer hand in federal spending.

A North Side representative will have a larger input on federal spending in Washington.

“This new role is an incredible opportunity to advocate for important projects that encourage economic development in the Chicago area,” Quigley said in a news release. "As the Appropriations Committee focuses on deficit reduction, creating American jobs and strengthening our economy, I am humbled to have the privilege of ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.”

As the only member to serve on the committee from Illinois, Quigley said he’d focus on the “3B Budget Plan.” That means a bipartisan effort, big deficit reduction, and balanced spending cuts with tax reform.
